Darren Criss has portrayed the character of J. Pierrepont for the last time in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Criss' run lasted three weeks starting on January 3rd. He took on the role after Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe, performed his final show on January 1st.
Criss who is well known for playing the gay heartthrob Blaine Anderson in Glee, was a box-office draw as the play sold out a number of performances.
Fans were mobbing the stage door at the end of each show, desperate to catch a glimpse, or perhaps have the opportunity to meet Criss.
According to Idolator, the show made around $1.3 million for each of the three weeks Criss was on stage.
Nick Jonas is set to take on the role on January 24th.
Christopher J. Hanke, original revival star who played Bud Frump, also performed his final show on January 22nd. Michael Urie who has had roles in Ugly Betty, The Temperamentals, and Angels in America, will be stepping in to play the character on January 24th.
When the final curtain fell, Criss took the time to thank the cast and crew, telling them how welcomed he felt, and how much his time with them meant. Criss began to tear up as he gave his final goodbye.
Playbill.com says that How to Succeed opened on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theater on March 27th, 2011.
The play received nine Tony Award nominations in 2011. It is also nominated for a Grammy for best musical theater album.
