David Blaine Loiters Some More in a New Stunt

David Blaine's newest stunt premieres in NYC.

Whether David Blaine is buried alive, standing in a block of ice, sitting in an elevated box or standing on an elevated pole, there seems to be a common theme among Blaine's endurance trials, a whole lot of needless loitering. His newest exploit doesn't exactly shatter his usual motif.

According to ABC News, his newest performance, the "Dive of Death," (which isn't overdramatic at all) will feature the magician hanging upside down six stories over New York City's Central Park. The stunt, which began this morning, will go on for 60 hours, concluding with Blaine diving to the ground on Wednesday. Why? Because he can.

Doctors have advised against this, due to the adverse effects it can have on the human body, even resulting in temporary blindness at times. Common sense also advises a similar message.

Blaine credits the idea with the most famous magician, Harry Houdini. He said he always found pictures of Houdini upside down, "compelling." However, Houdini generally tried to escape from shackles and perform some fantastic feats during his act, a far cry from simply . . . dangling.

While this stunt will in no way be physically simple, the only piece of advice we can give to Blaine is merely, "Hang in there."
