David Duchovny in Rehab for Sex Addiction

David Duchovny is a sex addicted man on and off screen.

The actor, who plays the sex-addicted Hank Moody on the Showtime series, Californication, voluntarily checked into rehabilitation, according to Duchovny's lawyer, Stanton Stein. Duchovny is best known as Special Agent Fox Mulder on the television series, The X-Files. Earlier this summer, Duchovny starred as Fox Mulder in the motion picture, The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Duchovny, 48, has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997. They have two children together. On April 24, 1999, Leoni gave birth to a daughter, Madelaine West Duchovny. Their second child, a son, Kyd Miller Duchovny, was born June 15, 2002.

According to People Magazine, Duchovny said, "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

ABC News said, "Showtime, which will begin airing the show's second season in September, released a statement after Duchovny's announcement, saying, 'All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time.'"

The New York Daily News' article delved a little deeper, "Duchovny gave no details of his addiction, but fans got a taste of the actor's sex life last month during a press tour. There he revealed that he and Tea got very steamy in a sauna during a getaway weekend in Vancouver. "We were just all over each other - the sauna wasn't going to stop me," said Duchovny, "and I recovered pretty quickly."
