David Duchovny, Tea Leoni Separated Months Ago

After making headlines over the summer for entering rehab to treat sex addiction, actor David Duchovny and his estranged wife, Tea Leoni, admitted they have been separated for several months, according to People magazine.

"In light of continuous speculation over the lives and marriage of Tea Leoni and David Duchovny, the couple has confirmed that they have in fact been separated for several months," the couple said through a statement. "The couple had hoped to keep this separation private for the sake of their children."

The couple have not cited specific reasons for the dissolution of their marriage though some speculate it was due to Duchovny's addiction and possible affairs.

Recent reports have also linked Leoni to actor Billy Bob Thorton. The two recently finished working on a film together but Thorton's rep has denied any romantic involvement between the two to Extra.

Earlier this month, Duchovny was released from the rehab program having successfully completed his treatment. His Showtime series, Californication, entered its second season last month.

The couple married in 1997 after a quiet, four-month courtship. They have two children together: Madelaine West, 9, and Kyd, 6.
