David Letterman apologizes for the crack against Sarah Palin's daughter

Letterman seeks forgiveness for remarks.

Last week, David Letterman was put under scrutiny for joking that Sarah Palin's teenage daughter was impregnated by baseball star Alex Rodriguez during a ballgame she and her mother attended. He mistakenly used the name of Palin's 14-year-old daughter, when, according to him, the joke was intended to be about her 18-year-old daughter. Letterman now faces heavy criticism and threats by those offended by the remarks, particularly supporters of Palin and Republican candidates during the presidential run, according to the Los Angeles Times. The group is urging CBS to take further consideration to penalize Letterman although he has apologized.

Letterman has said, "I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception." John Zeigler, a filmmaker who created "Media Malpractice" states that he aims to have his supporters rally outside of the Ed Sullivan Theater where Letterman tapes "The Late Show" in the afternoons. The Associated Press has acknowledged that Sarah Palin has spoken out against Letterman's remarks although she seems to be only furthering the controversy of the story.
