De Matteo Makes the Move from Jersey to Wisteria Lane

Newest housewife, played by Drea de Matteo, will be the matriarch of an Italian family soon moving to Wisteria Lane. Best known from her role as mafia girlfriend Adriana on HBO's Emmy award-winning series, "The Sopranos," De Matteo will be joining the cast of "Desperate Housewives" in the upcoming season. De Matteo is reported to be a series regular for the show's sixth season but it has not been confirmed whether or not she will continue through the course of the series. The show's producers are currently casting the actors who will play De Matteo's problematic son and landscape designer husband. They are hoping that this new addition to the cast will also help "Desperate Housewives" jump back into the Emmy race after a four year hiatus. The ABC hit show's sixth season is scheduled to premiere Sunday, September 27.
