Debbie Rowe to Have an Advantage in Custody Battle
Reports of Michael Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe's plans to seek custody of Michael Joseph Jr., 12, and Paris Michael Katherine, 11, have surfaced leaving the world wondering what will happen to Jackson's offspring.
"If she does request custody and that request is granted she would get obviously get all the money for their care and it would require that she receive money from the estate because she would take over as guardian," claims a source close to Rowe.
Rowe, 50, married the pop star in 1996. The two met at the offices of his dermatologist, Dr. Arnie Klein, where Rowe was working as a nurse. Michael Joseph Jr., and Paris Michael Katherine were both conceived through in vitro fertilization.
Rowe granted Jackson sole custody of their two children in 1999. Rowe was awarded a multi-million dollar settlement when the pair's divorce was finalized in April 2000.
In 2006, an appeals court reaffirmed Rowe's parental rights, giving her a case to pursue custody, defying Jackson's wishes.
Though Rowe has had very little contact with the children for over a decade, she still holds an advantage, and strongest case for custody, attorney Gloria Allred stated.
Jackson's third child, Prince Michael II, 7, was conceived by an anonymous mother, whose name has never been released. Rowe would not have claim to gain custody of the third child.
