Debra Messing Proud of Her Post-Baby Body
Four years after giving birth to her son, Roman, actress Debra Messing said she was proud of herself for losing the baby weight the healthy way, according to People magazine.
"Ultimately I'm very proud of how I dropped the weight because I think it was the healthy approach," Messing said. "I've finally taken ownership of my body."
In an interview with Shape magazine, Messing said the tabloid stories about her post-baby body were hurtful.
"It was written about in the tabloids a lot," Messing said. "On one page it showed all the actresses who got skinny in six weeks or less, and on the other page was me! I was so depressed and frustrated."
Messing hired a personal trainer to try to lose the baby weight after Roman's birth in 2004, but said the training sessions were too intense.
"I was exhausted! I couldn't work out three hours a day and do my job as a mother and an actress," Messing said. "So I took the pressure off: I cut back on seeing the trainer but started eating healthier."
Messing currently stars in the USA network series, The Starter Wife.
