Debra Messing takes the plunge, introduces Will Chase to her parents

The 'Smash' co-stars take their relationship to the next level

It’s looking pretty serious for co-stars and real life couple Debra Messing and Will Chase. The stars of NBC’s upcoming show, Smash, attended the series’ NYC premiere Thursday night where Chase met Messing’s parents.

The actress introduced her new leading man to her mother and father at the premiere’s post-dinner. According to People, Chase, Messing, and her parents were spotted having a great time and chatting the night away. The extravagant meal of lobster, shrimp, and lamb chops took place close to the exquisite Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Besides their new role in the musical series, we know the couple has one more thing in common. They both have had bad luck in the marriage department. The actress began dating her on-and-offscreen lover, Chase, not too long after calling it quits with husband Daniel Zelman last year. The estranged couple was married for 10 years. The actor also recently put an end to his marriage.

Fate was clearly on their side by bringing the two lovebirds together through Smash.

The show’s director, who got a first hand look at Chase and Messing’s budding romance, told People, "On Broadway, we call it a 'showmance,'" Mayer explained. "That’s where people meet and fall in love."

Although Messing has yet to shout her love for Chase from the rooftops, she has publicly spoken about her admiration for the Smash cast.

Us Weekly quoted the actress’s statement to the TCA panel earlier this month. “The amount of fun I'm having on this show is so ridiculous off the charts already,” she said. "The cast is so accomplished, so committed."

Tune in Feb. 6 for the series premiere of Smash. Their offscreen romance must make for some great onscreen chemistry!
