It’s official. Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are ending their six-year marriage.
After months of rumors and speculation that the two were on the verge of breaking up, the two were not very responsive to the press and did not respond to the rumors.
Moore released a statement to The Associated Press, confirming the split.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life,” her statement reads. “This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”
"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi," Kutcher tweeted, E! Online reports. He also added on his Chime page, "Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and light, AK."
Kutcher, 33, and Moore, 49, were involved in a couple of charity projects together, launching the DNA Foundation, also known as the Demi and Ashton Foundation, in 2010 and helping out in United Nations' efforts to fight human trafficking.
Moore was previously married to Bruce Willis for 13 years and the former couple has three daughters together. She has no children with the Two and a Half Men actor.
