Dennis Quaid Talks About Twins' Near-Death Experience

Quaid speaks up about the amount of medical mistakes being made in America.

According to Reuters, Actor Dennis Quaid has gone public about the mistake that nearly cost him his newborn twins' lives.

Last November, the staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center near Beverly Hills gave Quaid's two-week old twins an accidental overdose of the blood thinner Herapin. It turned their blood into the consistency of water and almost killed them.

Additionally, the hospital failed to notify Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, of the incident until the following day.

The couple are taking action and suing the drug's manufacturer for claiming the product is safe.

Quaid was interviewed for the CBS news program "60 Minutes" and the footage is set to be broadcast on Sunday. In this interview, he claims approximately 100,000 Americans are killed due to medical mistakes in hospitals.

The twins were delivered by a surrogate and are reportedly healthy without any lasting effects from their traumatic incident.
