The Departed

Just when the box office was beginning to look hopeless, Martin Scorsese saves the day! Starring the coolest actors in Hollywood - Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, and the infamous Jack Nicholson, "The Departed" finally hits theatres nationwide this weekend.

Written by William Monahan ("Kingdom of Heaven"), and based on the popular 2002 Hong Kong crime thriller, "Infernal Affairs," the transformation from Hong Kong to Boston does nothing to lessen the suspenseful storyline. Just as the audiences got a rush during the viewing of "Infernal Affairs," Scorsese's remake has the same adrenaline-rising impact with the added bonus of outstandingly talented and handsome actors.

Centering on South Boston's Irish mob, the police get one of their guys (DiCaprio) to go undercover and join the mafia crew while unexpectedly, the mafia have a similar plan up their sleeve. Loyal since childhood, one of the bad guys (Matt Damon) goes through the process of becoming a police officer only to better lend a hand to his role model-- mob boss (Jack Nicholson). However, things get heated when both sides begin suspecting that someone amongst their own is untrustworthy.

Unwilling to reveal any more, "The Departed" is a film you don't want to miss seeing in the theatre. For those of you who only go to the movies once per year, I highly recommend making this flick your choice for 2006. Have a great weekend!
