Depp Dazzles Comic-Con Crowd

Actor Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at the Comic-Con 3-D panel that screened the trailer for his upcoming film, "Alice in Wonderland."

One of the many films causing a buzz at this year's Comic-Con was the 3-D version of the classic, "Alice in Wonderland." Director Tim Burton stopped in at Comic-Con's first ever 3-D panel with a trailer of the film that is still in post-production, MonstersandCritics.com reports.

According to MTV.com, the trailer was such a hit with the audience that they demanded to see it again, but nothing compared to the thrill that went through the crowd when actor Johnny Depp, who plays the Mad Hatter in the film, made a surprise appearance onstage. MonstersandCritics.com reports that "when Depp showed up on stage, the assembled crowd became unglued."

Burton and Depp have collaborated on many films prior to "Alice in Wonderland," including "Edward Scissorhands" and the recent hit, "Sweeney Todd," but this is the first appearance Depp has made at the epic convention.

Burton talked to Reuters about his long-time working relationship with Depp, saying, "We seem to get along well and I've worked with him many times. It's always exciting to see what he brings to something. And it's fun to work with him because it's like it's always something different and new and it's just fun to see. That always is exciting to me."

"Alice in Wonderland," starring Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway, is set to hit theaters in March 2010.
