Diamond Dress Lostˆand Found

The dress worn by Carol Channing in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" was returned to the Broadway legend.

Diamonds are a girl's best friend, but as any girl knows misplace a diamond and there is nothing else on her mind. Broadway legend Carol Channing and her husband were checking into a hotel when a piece of luggage was stolen from them. This wouldn't be such a big deal under normal circumstances, but the bag contained an iconic diamond dress. Channing wore this dress in over 700 performances of the Broadway version of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," as Lorelei Lee. She was donating the dress as well as her Tony award for "Hello Dolly" to the Smithsonian where it would be exhibited. Well, the thief was not all that swift, considering he was caught on a surveillance camera. According to TMZ, a Caucasian homeless man found the dress in a bag in a nearby park. The good Samaritan said that he heard the dress was stolen and thought it best to return it.
