DiCaprio Hands Over Heartthrob Status to Efron

Leonardo DiCaprio has passed off his teen heartthrob status to an up and coming actor - High School Musical and soon-to-be Footloose actor Zac Efron.

DiCaprio burst onto the scene by acting in romantic movies like Romeo + Juliet and especially in Titanic.

But DiCaprio says that for such a long time, he was trying to pass off that status to someone else, because it was always about making quality films.

"I look at young Zac Efron and think, 'Go get it pal, leave me in peace,'" DiCaprio recently said. "I was never happy with the teen idol tag at all - never wanted to be a sex symbol or all that stuff - it was the work that appealed to me. Really nothing else. (I have) total respect for how young stars like Zac handle it all. Really total respect."
