Dick Cook leaves Walt Disney Studios
Many were surprised to find out that the head of Walt Disney Studios, Dick Cook, had decided to depart from the company after 38 years. Apparently there had been some division between Cook and Robert A. Iger, Disney's chief executive.
In recent years, the studio had not been doing so well in the box office. Movies like "G-Force" and "Bedtime Stories" left much to be desired and caused the company to struggle. Although reports have been circulating that the studio wanted to change direction, Disney has yet to confirm this as the reason behind Cook's departure. What is evident is that it came just a few weeks after Disney and Marvel had struck a deal.
Star of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies Johnny Depp told the Los Angeles Times that Cook called him and said, "'I'd like you to hear it from me before you hear it from someone else or read it.' He said today was my last day. He didn't give me a reason."
