Bob Weinstein said, "I'm going back to doing what I do best," preparing a new slate of sequels and franchise pictures for Dimension, with a new emphasis on 3D.
Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette have all signed to return for "Scream 4." The production will start in April or May and will be the first film in a new trilogy, Variety reports.
Robert Rodriguez is currently writing "Spy Kids 4," which he will direct in 3D. Disney will partner for the film and will start shooting in March. The company also plans to shoot "Halloween III" in 3D with an Oct. 2010 release. Cult classic "Children of the Corn" is getting a remake as well.
"I'm heading back to my franchise films," Weinstein said. "These films are our strength, and we are committed to doing them in style."
More films on the slate include sequels to "Hellraiser" and "Scanners" in 3D, and remakes of "Short Circuit" and "An American Werewolf in London."
"There is no question that financing is readily available to produce and market these films," Weinstein said. "I am eager to expand our scope in the 3D business."
