Director Dedicates New Film to Late Actor Heath Ledger
Terry Gilliam, director of "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," talks about Heath Ledger and how he was determined to finish the movie for the late actor following his sudden death.
Heath was just brilliant at it, and he got everybody else going, recalled director Terry Gilliam on Heath Ledger and his last movie, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Gilliam said Ledger almost co-directed.
"Everybody was just energized by Heath. He was extraordinary. He was almost exhausting because he had so much energy."
After Ledger's death in January 2008, Gilliam said he searched for actors to fill in for the late actor's performance, as reported by the Associated Press. He eventually cast Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell as incarnations of Ledger.
To commemorate the life of Ledger, a devotion at the end of the movie reads, "A film from Heath Ledger and friends."
