Disney and Universal Replace Execs

Walt Disney Co and Universal Studios hire new chairmen in an attempt to revamp their poor production performances.

The Walt Disney Co and Universal Studios underwent a shake-up in upper-level management in the past few days. Disney welcomed former Disney Channel executive Rich Ross as new chairman of Walt Disney Studios. Universal, on the other hand, replaced its top chairmen with its film marketing and production heads.

The changes came after both studios posted the poorest performances for major U.S studios of the year. Ross, the force behind Disney channel successes like "Hannah Montana" and "High School Musical", is expected to turn around the Disney movie franchise, taking control of the film labels Walt Disney, Touchstone, Miramax, and Disney/Pixar. At Universal, the switch-up of management was deemed necessary as parent company General Electric gets ready to sell NBC Universal, possibly to Comcast. \ A Summer Soiree\ The Magic of Mentoring
