Disney Channel Names New President
Carolina Lightcap, the senior vice president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Latin America, has now been named president of Disney Channels Worldwide. She is replacing Rich Ross, former president, who left in October to become chairman of Walt Disney Studios.
Lightcap is a 20-year veteran of the entertainment industry. She is known for building Disney Channel Latin America into a top cable channel in the region. Her promotion will take effect immediately. Some upset could be from Gary Marsh, Disney Channel Entertainment President. He was responsible for successful programming including "High School Musical" and "Hannah Montana." Marsh was given a newly created position of Chief Creative Officer but will have to report to Lightcap.
Anne Sweeney, co-chair, Disney Media Networks, told , "Carolina has made enormous contributions to Disney over the past decade, especially in launching and building Disney Channel Latin America." Sweeney also praised Marsh as, "the creative force behind Disney Channel's tremendous success and some of the Walt Disney Co.'s most heralded and popular franchises."
It is believed Lightcap will relocated from Buenos Aires to Burbank for her new position.
