Disney to extricate smoking from its family films
One of the largest media and entertainment corporations pledges to rid cigarette smoking from its family-oriented films.
Walt Disney Co. has decided to eliminate acts of smoking from some of its films.
According to the Washington Post's web site, "Family movies from Disney, the first studio to make the pledge, will not show cigarette smoking, and executives will discourage such scenes in Touchstone and Miramax productions, the company sad yesterday."
In addition, Disney plans to include anti-smoking ads on DVDs with films that do show cigarette smoking and will ask theater owners to run the ads before the running of such movies.
It seems Disney is leading the pack in this endeavor and hope that other media big wigs will follow their example.
