Disney's "Wizards of Waverly Place" Movie Topped Ratings

Friday's "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie" pulled in 11.4 million viewers.

So where was the Tween set Friday night? Watching "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie," of course.

Disney Channel's original movie was the year's most-watched telecast on cable television, pulling in about 11.4 million viewers, confirmed Variety.

The Disney Channel show, "Wizards of Waverly Place," is about three siblings with magical powers, and its popularity prompted Disney to make an expanded movie. It was a smart move. "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie" contributed to Disney Channel's success at pulling in viewers. Over the past two years, Disney Channel has claimed the top four telecasts on cable television: "High School Musical 2," Friday's "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie," an episode of "Hannah Montana," and a crossover, "Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana."

Selena Gomez, David Henrie, and Jake T. Austin star in the popular show and film as the magical siblings-in-training. The third season of the show is now in production. Gomez can be seen next at D23 Expo, September 13 at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.
