DMX Will Be Starting the Year on the Wrong Foot

It hasn't been the best of years for Earl Simmons, aka DMX.

After police raided his home in Phoenix, Arizona back in May and found pit bulls in very bad shape and remains from other dogs, the rapper turned actor was charged with animal cruelty violations. He also had to face drug charges as police found illicit drugs. And, after assuming someone else's identity to avoid payments for a hospital bill in Scottsdale, Ariz., he was finally charged for theft.

On Tuesday, the rapper pleaded guilty to all the felonies and misdemeanors he had allegedly committed and could spend at least 90 days in jail. According to Arizona prosecutors, DMX also agreed to not own animals or guns.

In a statement, County Attorney Andrew Thomas said, "I am pleased that this defendant will be held accountable for both his drug and animal cruelty offenses."

Things turned even worse for the 38-year-old artist as he failed to appear in several court appearances, forcing the court commissioner to issue warrants for his arrest.

The Associated Press reported that the sentencing hearing was set for January 30, at which point some additional charges will be dismissed.
