The legal war over the death of Michael Jackson continues. TMZ has reported that Doctor Conrad Murray’s defense is now going to claim that Michael killed himself. According to them, Michael gave himself a fatal dose of the drug Propofol when Murray left the room to use the restroom.
Murray does admit to giving the pop star 25 mg of the drug, an eighth of the bottle, at 10:50 am before stepping out while Michael was asleep. This is where the defense is saying that he woke up, frustrated at not being able to sleep, and gave himself the rest of Propofol.
This caused the heart attack before Murray came back into the room and started CPR. The cause of Michael’s actions according to the defense is because he was simply a Propofol addict.
Joe Jackson, Michael’s father, is shocked at this claim. He told TMZ, “I don’t believe it. It’s not true. Why would he (Murray) hide all the bottles if such a story were true? The Coroner’s report shows the story is not true. This really upsets me to hear this.”
Joe’s lawyer Brian Oxman adds, “His (Murray’s) story is medically inconsistent with the autopsy findings. I would need to see the photographs of the scene in order to assess his story.”
Keep in mind that this claim goes against the story of Alberto Alvarez, former bodyguard to Michael, who claims Murray halted CPR and started hiding Propofol bottles around the house. Authorities found empty bottles of the drug under the table next to the bed and suspect Alvarez’s story to be true. The defense plans to argue that if he was hiding evidence then Murray would have removed the bottles under the nightstand all together.
