Does "Octomom" Have a TV Deal?
According to the Hollywood Reporter, reports earlier Wednesday that claimed "Octomom," Nadya Suleman, had a reality TV deal, are false.
Suleman said, "Yes, it is official. I'm going to be doing a show, but it's not a reality show. What I'm doing with this TV show is basically creating documentaries about the lives of my children. . . . It will air in the U.K. and then we'll see if the U.S. is interested."
Suleman claimed that she had an agreement with U.K.-based Eyeworks. However, Eyeworks says it does not have any agreement with Suleman.
Eyeworks CEO Reinout Oerlemans released a statement saying, "At this time we are in active negotiations with Nadya and her attorney for an unscripted format following the life of Nadya and her children. Nadya's story is a unique and exciting one that needs to be told in the right manner. . . . We are confident that we are the right party to tell their story around the world."
TLC was expected to sign Suleman and her 14 children to a contract, however, after meeting with the family, the network changed its mind. Other networks have been similarly driven away by Suleman's reasons for starting a family and her strange behavior that has consisted of an on-camera argument with her mother and the dismissal of around-the-clock free care she had been given.
A spokesperson for Bravo said, "Please say, 'A Bravo spokesperson said we are not interested in this.'"
