Dog Whisperer Offers Advice to Obama

Cesar Millan, the man known as the "Dog Whisperer," offered advice to President-elect Barack Obama on the family's upcoming new pet.

Just two days after being elected the 44th president of the United States, President-elect Barack Obama is receiving advice from financial advisors, foreign policy experts and the "Dog Whisperer."

Cesar Millan, who hosts a television program in which he helps train misbehaving dogs, offered some words of wisdom to Obama and his family when it comes to choosing a dog. Millan said that despite being the first family of the United States, they will have to take time to lay down some ground rules for the new pooch.

"The dog won't know he's Barack Obama and won the presidency," Millan said. "Dogs don't know if they live in Beverly Hills or the White House. They don't know what you do for a living."

Millan suggested a "medium energy level" dog since the family will be very busy. He also suggested the family assert themselves as the leader of the pack.

Obama promised his two daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, a new puppy during his acceptance speech.

"I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that's coming with us to the White House," Obama said Tuesday night.
