Don Cornelius Arrested After Domestic Dispute

The original "Soul Train" host was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence.

According to police, Don Cornelius, who is better known to audiences as the host behind the hit show, Soul Train, was arrested Friday on suspicion of domestic violence, reports the Associated Press.

Officer Sam Park said that the producer was arrested Friday night on suspicion of domestic violence after police responded to a report that there had been a dispute at Cornelius's Hollywood Hills home.

Although Park said he did not know who the 72-year-old had allegedly assaulted, he could confirm that Cornelius was taken in and booked for investigation of felony domestic violence.

He was later released on $50,000 bail with orders to appear at a court date next month.

Cornelius was the host for the iconic show, Soul Train, from its start in 1970 until 1993.

The show is credited with giving the start to many big-name African-American performers such as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and even Barry White.
