Downey Jr. Frontrunner To Play Hugh Hefner In <i> Playboy</i> Biopic
The film's production hopes to start next summer.
Robert Downey Jr., fresh off his success as the lead character in Iron Man, is the frontrunner to play Hugh Heffner in a biopic about the Playboy creator, according to IMDB.com.
Downey Jr. was elevated into the position after Hefner was extremely impressed by his portrayal of wealthy playboy Tony Stark in Iron Man (formally the largest movie of the season, up until this past weekend). A similar character, minus the suit of armor, to what the formally rebellious actor would play in a Playboy biopic.
Hefner would like Downey Jr. to start shooting the film next summer, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
And the Golden Globe-winner is also thought to be interested if the script is up to the quality many believe it to be. Also attached to the film, at this point, is Apollo 13 producer Brian Graze, who will have the same role in the Playboy biopic.
