Dr. Drew Distances Himself from Hospital Deaths
Dr. Drew Pinsky is supposed to be saving lives, but instead, those lives seem to be ending. Authorities revealed that over the course of the last five months, three people have died at Aurora Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, Calif., whose chemical dependency rehab program is headed by Pinsky, the host of VH1's reality show, Celebrity Rehab. Pinsky made a statement to ABC that he was in no way associated with any of the deaths, one of which occurred on the same day that the patient checked in. "These were not my patients," he insisted. According to the L.A. Times, Pinsky was the only doctor featured on the hospital's Web site, but in an attempt to keep himself at arm's length from the investigation, he had the photo removed. Pinsky had told ABC news that the public's apparent decision to connect him "with these situations is really becoming an egregious problem. United Press International reported that Pinsky had expressed his condolences to the families of the patients. He said his heart "goes out to families and anyone else who loses their family to addiction."
On his show, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, Pinsky has treated many fading stars, from Brigitte Nielsen to Daniel Baldwin and pro-wrestler Chyna.
