Dr. Murray to Be Charged Monday
No charges will be filed until Monday in the case surrounding Michael Jackson's death, according to a Los Angeles district attorney's spokesperson.
Dr. Conrad Murray, who will be on trial for administering a lethal combination of sedatives to the late King of Pop, is expected to be charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter. Murray was with Jackson when he died on June 25 and has admitted to giving the 50-year-old pop star a dose of the powerful anesthetic, propofol, to help him sleep.
Murray's legal team has been negotiating with prosecutors, attempting to arrange his surrender for arraignment. These negotiations derailed after reports came out that law enforcement wanted to arrest him.
Sources close to the case said Murray, who has been under investigation for months, could face up to four years in jail.
