Drake denies claim from ex-girlfriend (Video)

Drake’s spokesperson has denied the claims of Ericka Lee, who self-proclaimed that she is Drake’s ex-girlfriend and was not properly compensated for her role in the song “Marvin’s Room.”

"This claim is entirely without merit and our client has not engaged in any wrongful conduct,” Drake’s representative told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Ericka Lee consented to the use of her voice in the song ‘Marvin’s Room’ prior to its release. Lee asked only for the credit she received as 'Syren Lyric Muse,' and she did not ask for any compensation. It was only after she retained a lawyer that there was a demand for payment. Drake tried for months to resolve the matter amicably, and he now looks forward to being vindicated in court."

Ericka’s voice is used in the beginning of the song and is part of what made the song a hit, with its music video getting 39 million views on YouTube and it being the lead single for his 2011 album Take Care.

She was credited as ‘Syren Lyric Muse’, and was, according to her, offered 4-5% of publishing royalties and even $50,000 to go away silently.

That did not happen, and Lee, who according to Billboard.com, claimed to be involved in a romantic and business relationship between early 2010 and mid-2011, has now filed suit against Drake to obtain co-writer royalties.
