DreamWorks Reveals New Feature Film Release Plan
DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. announced on Thursday its new strategy to begin releasing five feature films every two years, reports UPI.com. The California studio explained that the new plan will require the production of an additional film every other year on top of the two motion pictures the studio currently generates each year.
According to the UPI report, from now until 2012, DreamWorks is slated to manufacture five original feature films along with three sequels based on blockbusters Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and Madagascar. Consistent with the studio's previous announcement, all DreamWorks films are currently being produced in 3D.
Studio employees say they are excited about the creative ideas that were brought to the DreamWorks Animation table today, and the influence these ideas will have on their cinematographic plans over the next few years, reports UPI.com.
"Having achieved a high level of success and consistency in our creative process and having in our development pipeline more great story concepts than ever before, we are very confident in our ability to add one original film every other year," said Bill Damaschke, president of live theatrical and co-president of production.
According to the UPI report, DreamWorks Animation Chief Operating Officer Ann Daly says she agrees with Damaschke's assessment of the studio's promising plans for the future.
"We are thrilled with our exciting line-up of feature projects," Daly stated. "With so many promising original ideas and new franchise chapters in our pipeline, we believe this is the perfect time to share our theatrical plans for the next few years as we continue to lead the 3D charge and push creative boundaries to bring our stories to life."
