Drew Barrymore to host Detroit skate event
Drew Barrymore will host a skate event in the Detroit area The Chicago Tribune revealed this morning.
Barrymore, who recently filmed "Whip It", the upcoming roller-derby film with which she makes her directorial debut, returns to Michigan on Friday not just to walk the red carpet but also to host a skating event in Bonaventure Skating Centre, which is located in Farmington Hills, a suburb of Detroit.
Barrymore first came to attention as a child star in Steven Spielberg's megahit "ET" and went on to her present state as a true American sweetheart appearing in such films as "Never Been Kissed", "Charlie's Angels", "Fifty First Dates" and cult favourite "Donnie Darko". "Whip It" sees the dawning of a new stage in her career, that as a director.
Ellen Page (Juno, Hard Candy) headlines "Whip It" as a small town Texas teenager who becomes a roller-derby star.
