Dreyfuss May Portray Dick Cheney in "W."
Oliver Stone's new political movie, W., a take on the Bush administration, is likely to feature actor Richard Dreyfuss in the role of vice president Dick Cheney, reveals Hollywood Reporter.
The actor is in "final negotiations" for the role. Other actors already slated to be in the film include Thandie Newton, Elizabeth Banks, and Josh Brolin as "little W" himself. The role will be a departure for the 60-year-old Dreyfuss, whose resume includes hits like Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and Mr. Holland's Opus.
W. is tentatively scheduled for an October release, but those involved with the film are already planning ahead. They have sold distribution rights at Cannes and are planning to release a DVD of the film in January . . . to coincide with Bush's departure from office.
Many have already joked that the filmmakers' decisions have been better thought out than those of Bush himself during his eight years as president of the United States.
