Drummer for Jimi Hendrix Found Dead
Authorities in Portland, Oregon say that Mitch Mitchell, the drummer for the exceptionally popular Jimi Hendrix Experience back in the 1960s, has been found dead in a Portland hotel room.
Erin Patrick, a deputy medical examiner, said that he was found dead shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday in his room at the Benson Hotel.
She went on to say that Mitchell seemed to have died of natural causes, but they won't know for sure until after an autopsy is completed.
Mitchell was 62.
At the time of his death, Mitchell was touring with the Experience Hendrix Tour, which played last Friday at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland.
It was the last gig of their tour.
Mitchell was the last member of the trio to die. Hendrix died in 1970 and Noel Redding, the bassist for the trio, died in 2003.
