Duff Visits Elementary School To Help Low-Income Students

Duff previously starred on Lizzie McGuire.

Actress and singer Hilary Duff visited a school in the campaign to help ensure that students from low-income families don't go hungry as the economy goes further in the tubes and winter approaches.

The 20-year-old singer visited an elementary school in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Tuesday to promote the Blessings in a Backpack program. The campaign attempts to provide needy children with bags full of food for their families - the bag of food is supposed to last them through an entire weekend.

"I feel lucky enough to have a voice or a name that people might pay attention to," Duff said. "I think that people might not be aware that a couple neighbourhoods away, kids aren't having food on the weekends, and we just want people to be informed and to know what's going on in their communities and to help if they can."
