Actress Patty Duke recovering from a single heart bypass surgery

Patty Duke, 57, is recovering November 4th at the intensive care unit at Kootenai Medical Center, which is near her ranch in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. A hospital spokeswoman said Duke's husband Michael Pearce told Duke that "everything went well." Doctors expect her to make a full recovery by the end of November. This surgery follows Duke's surgery in the spring of 2004 to increase blood flow to her heart.

Duke won an Oscar for her role of Helen Keller in the 1963 production of "The Miracle Worker". She also won Emmys for "My Sweet Charlie" in 1970, "Captains and the Kings" in 1976, and her TV portrayal of Keller's teacher Anne Sullivan in 1980. Duke also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2004.

Recently, she worked on the film "Bigger than the Sky" with her son Sean Astin, who played Sam in "The Lord of the Rings".
