The Dukes Drive Up to the Top of the Box Office
In it's opening weekend, the remake of the original "Dukes of Hazzard" claimed its stake
The Dukes definitely caused some major hazzard at the box office this weekend by racing to the top. Despite the bad reviews from critics, the film starring pop singer Jessica Simpson, "Jackass" Johnny Knoxville, and actor Seann William Scott raked in a whopping $30.5 million in its debut weekend.
Perhaps it was Simpson's "Daisy dukes" that drove hundreds to the movie theatre, or music legend Willie Nelson's appearance on the screen. Either way, the "Dukes" crashed over Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn's "Wedding Crashers," which took sloppy seconds. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" fell from second to third, while "Must Love Dogs" came in at fourth. It remains to be seen if the Dukes' engine will rev at the top for much longer.
