Dunst Film in Cannes Festival
Kirsten Dunst's new period movie is a contender at the Cannes Film Festival
Marie-Antoinette, Kirsten Dunst's new period film, has recently been chosen to compete at the sought-after Cannes Film Festival. The film, which was directed by Sofia Coppola and co-stars Shopgirl star Jason Schwartzman, looks upon a 19-year-old Viennese girl becoming the enviable queen of France in 1744 that is until she is infamously beheaded. The Dunst-Coppola film is among the earliest of the contenders for the coveted top prize at Cannes, the Palme d'Or. The opener of the ceremony is the Ron Howard directed "The Da Vinci Code", starring Tom Hanks. "The Da Vinci Code" will not be a contender this year though. The 59th Cannes Film Festival will run May 17 through May 28.
