While Darren Aronofsky plans a disaster-epic Noah's Ark tale, another Biblical story is making it's way to the big screen: the famed David and Goliath fable.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Day the Earth Stood Still helmer Scott Derrickson and Relativity Media are pairing up for Goliath, a take on the Sunday school story that's already been described as a period piece but with 300-esque modernization.
And apparently, Relativity has already set their sights on their ideal giant and his weaker-bodied, purer-hearted opponent.
Screen Rant reports that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Taylor "The Shirtless Werewolf from Twilight" Lautner have been offered the roles of Goliath and David, respectively.
Derrickson is set to direct a script from fresh-faced scribes Patrick McKay and John D. Payne.
Should Lautner choose to accept, it would reunite him with his Twilight producers, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.
THR notes that neither deal is official because both of the actors are kind of pricey. Understandably, though, since Johnson just came off of the surprise smash of Fast Five and Lautner is on his way to becoming an ab-tastic action star with this month's Abduction.
