Eastwood to Direct J. Edgar Hoover Biopic
America’s favorite tough guy is looking to direct a biopic about one of America’s most notorious public officials. The Hollywood Reporter says that Clint Eastwood will direct a film about J. Edgar Hoover.
Hoover helped the FBI get off the ground in 1935, and served as it’s director until his death in 1972. He was a controversial figure, criticized for his volatile leadership style, and for possibly using FBI power beyond what he was authorized to do. Under his leadership, the FBI harassed political and civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King, Jr.
The script for the film was written by superstar biopic-writer Dustin Lance Black, who won an Academy Award for his Milk screenplay. No actors have been cast, but Eastwood is working with Rian Grazer and Ron Howard's Imagine Entertainment. Who do you think should play J. Edgar Hoover? Let us know what you think.
