Ed McMahon Hospitalized for Pneumonia

The prominent television figure is being treated for health issues.

According to People.com, Ed McMahon is currently in a Los Angeles hospital undergoing treatment for pneumonia and other medical issues. He has been in the hospital for nearly a month now and is currently in the ICU, as one of his spokespeople announced today.

In response to a TMZ report about McMahon's "serious" condition, his representative and friend, Howard Bragman, spoke out. "We appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers," he said.

McMahon has been a well-known and loved television figure, known for his time with Johnny Carson on NBC's Tonight Show. He was also known for his American Family Publishers sweepstakes ads and emceeing on the '90s show, Star Search. McMahon has been in the news recently due to some serious financial problems which almost resulted in foreclosure of his home.

Bragman confirmed that McMahon was hospitalized for a respiratory infection but did not mention which hospital he was in. He did, however, add, "He's not at Cedars-Sinai," as McMahon is currently suing that hospital for malpractice and elder abuse.

"The family is asking for privacy and we'd like to respect that at this time," said Bragman. "We are hoping and praying for the best."
