On Saturday, actor-comedian Eddie Murphy opened up about his next big performance: hosting next year’s Academy Awards.
Access Hollywood reports Murphy as saying, “I’m kind of looking forward to it, because I haven’t done it. I’m not nervous….It’s a billion people watching, but I’m not nervous at all.”
Director Brett Ratner thinks that Murphy will perform well at the Oscars, as other comedians have in the past. He explained, “At first I was really nervous about it, before I got Eddie, but then when I got Eddie I said, ‘You know what, I got the greatest stand up [comedian to host].’”
He added, “If you look at the Oscars, the best hosts have been comedians… Bob Hope, Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal were the three best hosts, and that’s what works.”
According to Extra, Murphy is also expected to return to Saturday Night Live.
Murphy can next be seen with fellow comedian Ben Stiller in the November 4 release Tower Heist.
