Eliminated Idols Approve of Judges' New Rule

Jorge Nunez and Jasmine Murray speak out on controversial new "Idol" rule.

The American Idol judges introduced a new rule on Wednesday night – the option for them to save one contestant from elimination at some stage of the competition. If the nation doesn't come through with the votes, Randy, Simon, Paula and Kara can choose to step in and save one deserving Idol from being sent home. And although they didn't choose to rescue Jorge Nunez or Jasmine Murray on Idol's results show, the two eliminated contestants still insisted that the new rule was a good idea, according to the Associated Press.

Speaking via a media conference call on Thursday, Murray told reporters, "They're giving people extra chances to get closer to reaching their dreams and reaching that goal so I think it's a great idea."

Considering that the judges gave Murray a second chance in the Wild Card round, the 17-year-old had hoped that lightning might strike twice in keeping her in the game a little longer. "You always have to have hope and you have to have faith and believe that it could happen and that there was a possible chance," Murray told reporters, according to RealityTVWorld.com. "I mean they could've said yes, but they didn't and that's okay, I understand. They know what they want from the competition and they wanted to probably save it, so that's okay with me."

Jorge Nunez, 21, a native of Puerto Rico, was not quite as optimistic as Murray, but said that he was not insulted by the judges' decision not to save him. "I was not hurt by [not getting 'The Judges' Save'] because I believe a person shouldn't have any excuses, and when something happens it's because it's meant to be so," Nunez insisted. "I just took the hit like a man and you know what? Things are gonna be great for me because this is going to be the start of something much, much bigger."
