Hollywood’s up-and-coming it girl, Elizabeth Olsen, 22, has won the Best Actress award at the 38th Ghent Film Festival in Belgium for her role in Martha Marcy May Marlene.

The film’s director, Sean Durkin, accepted the award on Olsen’s behalf, as she was not at the festival.

Durkin told The Hollywood Reporter, that although many distinguished leading ladies came in and read for the part, he chosen Olsen because he wanted “someone I’d never seen before” to carry the film.

He went on to praise the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, saying “For me it was amazing working with her, and all the other actors felt the same way. She was 21 when we shot and she just blew everyone away with how professional and prepared she was.”

USA Today reports that Olsen has received Oscar buzz for her role in Martha Marcy May Marlene.
