Ellen DeGeneres is receiving a lot of backlash now that she has been named J.C Penney’s spokesperson. The daytime host was asked to represent the American-made company in the hopes to “boost its image.” The problem is that members if OneMillionMom.com are outraged that the openly gay comedian will now be the face of the company.

According to NY Daily News, the website addressed the news by stating, “Funny that JC Penney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families. More sales will be lost than gained unless they replace their spokesperson quickly. Unless JC Penney decides to be neutral in the culture war then their brand transformation will be unsuccessful.”

Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs and Communications at GLAAD refutes OneMillionMoms.com’s statement by stating, “While designated hate groups try to start ‘culture wars,’ it’s clear that a vast majority of Americans today support Ellen as well as their LGBT friends and family members.”

DeGeneres used to work for J.C Penney back in the '70s, so she is excited to make the transition back to a company that she once enjoyed working for. She claims that back in the '70s if you needed a tube top of flair jeans, “I was your gal.”

The hilarious DeGeneres is so excited about her new role, she said she will talk about her new job everywhere from her show to Starbucks, but not the movies, “because that's rude. That's when I'm going to text about it."

Ron Johnson, CEO of J.C Penney, is backing his decision to have DeGeneres as the face of the store. He states, “I think Ellen is someone we all trust. She's loveable, likeable, honest and funny, but at her soul, we trust her."
