Following Ellen DeGeneres’ appointment to spokesperson for J.C. Penney, a conservative group called One Million Moms quickly voiced their disdain for an openly gay figure to represent the company.

The group rallied together to organize a boycott against the talk show host and comedienne, but DeGeneres responded to it on her show, saying “Not that there’s anyone counting, but for a group that calls themselves the Million Moms, they only have 40,000 members on their page.”

Entertainment Weekly reports that unlikely support Bill O’Reilly has since come forward to voice his support of DeGeneres, all the while J.C. Penney has backed her from the start.

DeGeneres has since thanked O’Reilly for his support, Fox News reports. She said on her show, “you didn’t really make it clear if you were going to shop at JCPenney but if you do you can use my employee discount any time you want.”

Now, DeGeneres fans are coming out in droves to support her and have even surpassed the boycott of One Million Moms.

A Facebook group called 1 Million People Who Support Ellen for J.C. Penney has 89,829 members and counting, which trumps the 42, 746 supporters for One Million Moms.

The almost 90,000 backing is a far cry from the mere 38 likes the Facebook page had just yesterday.

J.C. Penney's CEO Ron Johnson made it clear that they are standing behind their spokesperson. They said on CBS This Morning, "We stand squarely behind Ellen as our spokesperson and that's a great thing, because she shares the same values that we do in our company.

Our company was founded 110 years ago on The Golden Rule, which is about treating people fair and square, just like you would like to be treated yourself. And we think Ellen represents the values of our company and the values that we share."
