Elton John says he will help Eminem kick his drug problem

43rd Annual Grammy Awards - Show

In a recent broadcast on BBC radio, the longtime pop star Elton John says he is helping Eminem with his longtime drug problem. Since his admittance to a drug rehabilitation center in 2005, the big time rapper has been on a three-year break from the music world.

It has been no secret that Eminem has been very familiar with drugs, he states this clearly in many of his songs. While most of his lyrics are exaggerated versions of his real life experiences, presumably to increase the shock value of his music, the frequency and detail of his drug experiences in his lyrics show that he is no stranger to addiction. He also nearly overdosed on the heroin substitute, methadone.

Elton John has helped celebrities deal with their drug problems before and dealt with his own demons of alcohol and heroin in the 1980s. He said in the BBC interview that he is "there if people want my help. If people ask for help you tell them where to go, but there's no point advising people if they don't want to do it."
