With every award season, there is always drama. Dramatic outfits, dramatic acceptance speeches, dramatic performances. But the biggest drama this year may have been over Madonna's win for Best Original Song.
Rolling Stone reported that just after her win for her track "Masterpiece," from the movie W.E., which beat out Elton John's original song "Hello Hello from Gnomeo and Juliet, John's husband David Furnish rushed to share his sour opinion on the decision on his social media accounts.
"Madonna. Best song???? F*ck off!!!" Furnish wrote on his Facebook profile.
He also attacked her supposed attitude during her acceptance speech and her recent accusations that Lady Gaga's (godmother to Furnish and John's child) song "Born This Way" was heavily influenced by her own song "Express Yourself."
"Thanks for all your supportive comments and support," he wrote in a separate post. Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it's narcism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is."
Billboard.com reported that before the night even began, John was throwing jabs at Madonna, telling NBC's Carson Daily that she "doesn't have a f*cking chance of winning tonight."
Despite the insults from both sides of this feud, Us Weekly reported that Madonna said backstage that she hoped the two singers could work things out, "I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years," she joked. "He's been known to get mad at me so I don't know. He's brilliant and i adore him so hell win another award. I don't feel bad."
