The Elvis '68 Comeback Special is now available on a 4 CD deluxe set commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the TV Special. It has four hours of music including never before seen recordings.
Elvis returned in front of an audience for the first time in seven years when he signed up for this gig.
Originally supposed to be a Christmas Special, Elvis's concert aired on December 4, 1968. Elvis sported his black leather suit - his trademark - as he performed some of his greatest hits.
NBC's ratings soared as it was the highest and the number one rated show of the season. Not just for ratings, but this moment became one of the most memorable in music history.
